Today is National Nonprofit Day, and we’re highlighting a few local orgs where you can spread the love — either by volunteering or donating.

Help the community:
  • United Way Suncoast | This organization offers a variety of ways to give back, from financial coaching to monthly engagement opportunities.
  • Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful | Take part in the nonprofit’s After Gasparilla Clean Up, Great Port Clean Up, or Hillsborough River Coastal Clean Up as a volunteer.
  • Home Makers of Hope | This nonprofit provides essential household goods to families struggling with poverty. Volunteer for pickups, home visits, or warehouse duties + donate household goods to support the mission.
  • Tampa Bay Estuary Program | The nonprofit hosts events ranging from removing exotic vegetation to creating living shorelines.
  • The Humane Society of Tampa Bay | Humane Society volunteers can help with admin work and handling animals, the adoption process, education, special events, and more.
  • Habitat for Humanity Pinellas & West Pasco Counties | Help build a family’s forever home. First-time volunteers can also attend the Nuts & Bolts orientation class every first Thursday of the month.

  • Pinellas County Commission just approved $665,816 in public funding for a new affordable housing complex, Founders Point (2901 31st St., St. Pete). The $5.86 million project will feature 15 units that will be reserved for those making 60% or lower of the area median income or households with special needs + cost $5.86 million.   • There’s a new spot to grab your morning brew in Downtown Tampa. Cass Street Coffee Company just opened on the ground floor of the revamped Floridian Palace Hotel. The java joint serves La Colombe Coffee Roasters + Local Mini Donut Co. treats everyday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Creative Loafing Tampa Bay)

  • The hot bar is in the works. Exterior construction wrapped on St. Pete’s incoming Whole Foods Market — now, the store’s interior buildout is underway. The 40,000-sqft store (201 38th Ave. N.) is projected to open in 2024. (St. Pete Catalyst)

It turns out you can put a price on paradise.... $17.85 million to be exact. The One Team Tampa recently sold 42 Ladoga Ave., Tampa in the second largest deal in Tampa history.

The 9,038-sqft tudor mansion sits on 1.45 acres with 464 yards of waterfront frontage — making it Davis Islands’ largest waterfront lot, according to the listing.

The sprawling home was originally built in 1932 by the G.A. Hanson Company for the Gulf Fertilizer founder Lem P. Woods and his wife for $12,000, according to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. The company also built local spots like the historic Hillsborough Masonic Lodge.
