Now introducing: Your fall slate of Tampa Bay performances, from a classic Broadway hit and a moving performance about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., to inventive musical acts:

What’s on for August?

  • “Fable” | Aug. 9-Sept. 8 | Times vary | freeFALL | This meta musical follows two siblings in the making of a Broadway fable — the enduring classic “Gypsy.”
  • “Thrice to Mine” | Aug. 14-25 | Times vary | Shimberg Playhouse, Straz Center | The Jobsite production take a historical-focused peek at Lady Macbeth through magic, lore, and of course, Shakespeare.
  • freeFall at the Movies: “Gypsy” | Aug. 14 | freeFALL | Follow your musical experience with a peek at the source material with this screening of the 1965 film adaption starring Natalie Wood + Rosalind Russell.

Set up your September

  • Bandits on the Run | Sept. 3 | 7 p.m. | freeFALL | Take in a performance from the Brooklyn-based, indie-folk-pop-Americana trio.
  • “The Guys” | Sept. 11 | 7 p.m. | Tampa Firefighters Museum | This performance benefiting the Tampa Firefighters Museum follows an NYC editor and FDNY captain in the days after 9/11 as they craft eulogies for fallen firefighters —our ticket also includes two drinks.
  • “Ring of Fire” | Sept. 25-Oct. 20 | Times vary | Raymond James Theater | Fans of Mr. Cash will adore this jukebox musical that uses the singer-songwriter’s tunes to share stories about the highs and lows of life in 20th century rural America.
  • “6 Guitars": Chase Padgett | Sept. 20-21 | Times vary | freeFALL | The illustrious Chase Padgett takes the stage for his one-man show in which all six of the characters specialize in a different musical genre.

It ought to be an incredible October

  • “The Boy Who Loved Batman” | Oct. 1-Nov. 10 | Times vary | Jaeb Theater | Follow the journey of the beloved DC Comics character from the page to Hollywood.
  • “Gorey Stories” | Oct. 23–Nov. 17 |Times vary | Shimberg Playhouse, Straz Center for the Performing Arts | The theater company revisits the beloved show, packed with stories, poems, and limericks aplenty.
