St. Petersburg is one of the best cities for moviemakers

We made MovieMaker Magazine’s “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker” for 2023.

Our film culture is alive and well.

It should come as no surprise that St. Pete was named one of the “Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker” in MovieMaker Magazine. The magazine lauded our photogenic city for its year-round sun and St. Pete-Clearwater Film Commission’s cash rebate program. What can we say? The camera loves our beaches and architecture.

No wonder so many films and television shows have been shot here, including:

  • Magic Mike” | This Steven Soderbergh film starring Channing Tatum is filmed all over the Tampa Bay.
  • Oceans 11” | George Clooney is seen betting on horses at Derby Lane in this iconic heist flick.
  • The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie” | If the opening scene looks familiar, it’s because it was shot on the St. Pete Pier.
