It’s no secret that St. Pete has a thriving arts + literary community. And cultivating a well-educated community starts with the city’s youngest residents. 📚

The first St. Pete Reads! Lit Fest is this Sat., Nov. 5 from 10am-4pm at the Woodson African American Museum of Florida (located at 2240 9th Ave. S.). Organizers — the Cultured Books Literacy Foundation, St. Petersburg College, and the Barbershop Bookclub — planned the day-long event to celebrate and encourage reading.

The kiddos are sure to love:

  • Book signings with authors like Greg Neri, Antwan Williams, Jamecia Buggs, L.B. Anne, Lola Morgan, Stephanie Claytor
  • Youth poetry workshops
  • Phonics song dance party
  • Yoga + puppet storytime

Plus, parents can learn about local literacy programs like Keep St. Pete Lit, Phyllis Wheatley Rise to Read Campaign, Sing Out And Read, Thrive By Five, Shaping The Early Mind, Reach St. Pete Literacy Program, the Shirley Proctor Puller Foundation, Barbershop Book Club, and Cultured Books Literacy Foundation.

RSVP here.
