For many of us, the best part of living on the Gulf Coast is easily the fresh seafood. Around here, we like all kinds of fishy delights: Shrimp, snapper, oysters, trout, blue crab, and literally too many other kinds to name.
We rounded up a few spots around town to pick up your seafood bounty:
This gourmet grocery market’s inventory includes tons of fresh seafood from fish fillets (think sea bass and kingfish) and shrimp, to mussels and lobsters. The market also serves up steaks + prepped meal options like crab-stuffed mushrooms and shrimp skewers wrapped in bacon.
This family-owned Gulfport spot sells locally caught fish and other seafood choices. Order Florida black grouper, mangrove snapper, stone crab, sauces, and even alligator for at-home delivery.
Some folks say “Modern Mediterranean” is having a moment. If you agree, you’ll adore this Palma Ceia West home with its own wine cellar, wrap-around windows, 10-ft ceilings, and its own petite balcony perfect for spying on the neighbors a la Derek in “Shrinking.”
Try This
Grab your phone and get outside. Tampa is participating in this year’s City Nature Challenge, a global bioblitz kicking off on Friday, April 24. Locals can join in by snapping photos of wild plants and animals, then uploading their observations to help document biodiversity.
Number
$4,675. That’s the median annual property tax bill in TBAY, which ranked No. 197 in the country. According to a study by SmartAsset, that figure represents ~3.1% of homeowner income — that’s a lower percentage than Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Boca Raton.
Sports
Don’t get yourself in a pickle this National Pickleball Month without a place to play. Whether you’re new to the sport or chasing your next open play session, head to one (or all) of these TBAY spots.
Ranked
Florida clocked in at No. 25 on a new WalletHub ranking of the best states for working from home. The report weighed factors like internet costs, home size, and cybersecurity, but we’d argue there’s one more metric that matters: great outdoor work spots. Luckily, Tampa + St. Pete deliver.

I didn’t know much about her breed, or how to best care for her. Thanks to Embark’s Breed + Health Dog DNA Test, that’s all changed. I’ve learned Meredith is a mix of American Pit Bull, Australian Cattle Dog, Dalmatian, and that she may be at higher risk for Intervertebral Disc Disease. Now I can take proactive steps to support her health — like keeping her on a balanced diet and opting for a harness over a collar to help reduce strain on her spine.
Try Embark for your dog, discover their unique DNA, and give them the best possible care.
A Times columnist spotted America’s sweetheart, Guy Fieri, filming at downtown Tampa’s Supernatural last week. We’ll keep an eye out to see if the breakfast spot gem is featured by the Food Network icon.
In the meantime, grab a bite from these TBAY spots the flamin’ haired dude already aired on his “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.”
