Lots of spaces within The Stevedore include bold colors and patterns. | Photo by TBAYtoday
We got the chance to tour The Stevedore, Gasworx’s latest addition, which opens in April 2026. It’s the second project in the buzzy mixed-use development that abuts Ybor.
The complex will feature 390 apartments, an outdoor garden planted (and maintained for the initial year) by Meacham Urban Farm, a large central courtyard with a heated pool, a club lounge and resident bar, and a parlor room with fireplace.
KETTLER, the developer, representatives said they focused on blending the brand-new build into the neighborhood.
What Tampa staples can you spot in the custom wallpaper?

First off, the Stevedore itself is a nod to the longshoremen or dock workers who kept the Cigar City’s shipping industry running — hauling boxes of bananas off boats from the Caribbean — and established Tampa’s roots.

The building is designed to mirror the historic brick buildings that line Seventh Avenue (like the Historic Kress Building), but the rest of the space also nods to the neighborhood, with details like:
Materials like brick, stucco, and cornish details at the top of the building
Murals and pieces of art inspired by Burgert Brothers photos + Tampa’s roots

The Southwest Florida Water Management District just issued stricter water restrictions due to the ongoing severe drought. The new rules go into effect on Friday, April 3, and run through Wednesday, July 1. What are they? Residents are still able to water their yards once a week, but the new periods are from 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m. or from 8 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. (WFLA)
Development
Healthcare continues to rank as one of TBAY’s biggest industries and it’s not changing anytime soon. BayCare just shared plans to build a $22.5 million interventional radiology expansion at St. Anthony’s. Basically, the healthcare group plans to move all of its specialty imaging services within one 13,877-sqft facility. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)
Coming Soon
The team behind 717 South just opened a new South Tampa eatery. The Landon serves fancy New American eats — i.e., steak and seafood — like vegan short rib, Thai coconut curry mussels, and 10K Scallops. See what else is opening soon across TBAY this spring. (That’s So Tampa)
Sports
Fire the cannons one last time. Lavonte David is retiring after 14 seasons in the league — all of them with the Bucs. The beloved linebacker ended his career tied with Derrick Brooks as the Bucs’ all-time leading tackler. Watch his emotional press conference sharing the news. (ESPN)
Announced
While we’ve got Champa Bay on the brain, USF Women’s Basketball just got a new coach. Kristy Curry is the Bulls’ new coach, coming off 13 seasons at the helm of Alabama’s squad. She holds 550 career wins + 14 NCAA Tournament appearances to boot. (St. Pete Catalyst)
Arts
South St. Pete will likely soon boast its own community arts center. The Bill Edwards Foundation just kicked off its 10 for Tomorrow campaign to raise money to create a new space for youth programming, arts career development opportunities + family engagement. Learn more tomorrow, March 27, at the Mahaffey Theatre. (St. Pete Catalyst)
