South Tampa flooding project may be delayed
Earlier this week, Tampa City Council pushed off a vote to issue a small chunk of the funding for the South Howard Flood Relief and Streetscape Project. A reminder: The initiative aims to reduce flooding over the next few years via a new high-capacity stormwater box culvert system.
St. Pete unveils the The Sunshine City Mosaic
Don’t let anyone tell you TBAY isn’t the arts capital of Florida. Leaders are showing off the new Sunshine City Mosaic at Sunset Park today at 5 p.m.
Artists Laura Spencer, Alex Kaufman, and George Retkes designed + crafted the piece featuring nine Florida wildlife vignettes.
PSTA kicks off new Spark route
Get ready to ride from Eckerd College all the way to the Grand Central District. PSTA just rolled out the new Spark route, with 18 stops along 34th Street South, according to I Love the Burg.
Hurricane Melissa touched down in Jamaica as a Category 5 hurricane yesterday. It’s the strongest storm in history to hit the Caribbean country. At landfall, Melissa had maximum sustained winds of 185 mph. Keep an eye on the hurricane. (WTSP)

Another win for Champa Bay, eh? The College Football Playoff national title game is coming to Raymond James Stadium in 2029. Tampa raked in around $300 million when we hosted the game back in 2017. (Tampa Bay Times)

4,800. That’s how many bundles of seagrass workers are planting on Tampa Electric’s Big Bend Station property. Leaders hope the new plants will provide both habitat and nutrition for manatees and other marine wildlife long into the future. (Tampa Bay Times)
