South Tampa’s roads are no strangers to standing water.

If we can’t take Halloween week off the news, neither can you. Just kidding, we love sharing the news.

We’re back with the latest major updates you need to know across Tampa + St. Pete:

South Tampa flooding project may be delayed

Earlier this week, Tampa City Council pushed off a vote to issue a small chunk of the funding for the South Howard Flood Relief and Streetscape Project. A reminder: The initiative aims to reduce flooding over the next few years via a new high-capacity stormwater box culvert system.

The $4.1 million contract to replace more than 100-year-old water mains and aging sewer lines is part of the broader $64.5 million project.

The council said they need more information on the project’s cost before approving the contract. The vote is now booked for Dec. 4.

St. Pete unveils the The Sunshine City Mosaic

Don’t let anyone tell you TBAY isn’t the arts capital of Florida. Leaders are showing off the new Sunshine City Mosaic at Sunset Park tomorrow, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m.

Artists Laura Spencer, Alex Kaufman, and George Retkes designed + crafted the 175-ft mosaic using 15,000 pieces of tile. The finished piece features nine vignettes of Florida’s diverse wildlife.

Bring a picnic blanket, lawn chairs, and good spirits for mosaic-themed arts and crafts, eats, and lawn games.

PSTA kicks off new Spark route

Get ready to ride from Eckerd College all the way to the Grand Central District. PSTA just rolled out the new Spark route, with 18 stops along 34th Street South, according to I Love the Burg.

The goal is to better connect students and school staff to the SunRunner and other local routes.

The high-frequency route offers service every 15 minutes at all stops from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily. The service will slow to 30-minute frequency from 5 a.m. – 6 a.m. + 8 p.m. to midnight.
