A developer wants to build a $136 million condo/hotel in South Tampa. The Magnolia Hotel and Residences would boast 122 hotel rooms, 8 townhomes, and 21 condos. Copperline Partners requested rezoning approval from the city, and the first hearing is booked for Thursday, Nov. 13. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Speaking of rezoning, Tampa City Council is fighting to keep its authority over zoning and land-use decisions. Earlier this week, attorneys for the city appeared in the Second District Court of Appeal to argue that “zoning ordinances are legislative actions fully within the city council’s procedural authority.” (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Related Urban Group and the Tampa Housing Authority just celebrated the groundbreaking of a new affordable housing project in East Tampa.
