A look at last year’s floral harvest at the Saturday Morning Market.

Photo via TBAYtoday

Yeah, yeah, yeah, forecasters say we can expect a return to steamy summer temps through Oct. 8. But we’re not letting that hamper our kickoff to farmers’ market season.

First off, the Saturday Morning Market reopens at Al Lang Stadium for the season tomorrow, Oct. 4. The waterfront market takes over the lot from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. — with live music starts at 1 p.m.

I, for one, am eager to grab zinnias, red leaf lettuce, and baby greens from Little Pond Farm.

Asked

A. Every week
B. A couple times a month
C. A few times a year

News Notes

Announced

So what’s next for the Gas Plant District? We might have an answer soon. Developer Casey Ellison + ARK Investment Management CEO Cathie Wood will likely make a bid for the 86-acre St. Pete property. To build what, we’re not sure. (Tampa Bay Times)

Development

And so it begins. The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority just approved a $92 million contract for Tampa International’s new Airside D construction. So expect to see the addition building up the next time you’re on the shuttle. The money also goes toward TPA’s new checked baggage system. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Community

There’s plenty of ways to give back across Tampa, but this one honors a late Tampa community leader. Head to Memorial Park Cemetery on Sunday, Oct. 4 for a cleanup in honor of Norene Copeland Miller. (Creative Loafing Tampa Bay)

Drink

Our USL Super League champs just notched another accolade: Their own brew. The team partnered with Coppertail Brewing Company on the Tampa Bay Sun Match Day Lager. Fittingly, it launches tomorrow, Oct. 3., and you can find it at At Suncoast Credit Union Field, Coppertail Brewing, and some local retailers.
