We’re aware of Tampa Bay’s culinary prowess, but it’s nice to get some nationwide foodie recognition.

The latest edition of the Florida Michelin Guide just dropped and of the 14 Sunshine State additions, four call Tampa Bay home. Now let’s meet the islanders:

Big Ray’s Fish Camp

Nothing screams Tampa Bay quite like a fish camp. Big Ray’s serves all the classics — like shrimp po’ boys, grouper sandwiches, and peel and eat shrimp — plus a range of inventive additions like grouper cheeks in a sweet Thai chile.

Mad Dogs & Englishmen

Yes, the new location only recently opened its doors, but Mad Dogs is a Tampa staple. The English-inspired menu features entrees like mushroom leek pie and aubergine bolognese.

Cousin Vinny’s Sandwich Co.

Michelin calls this Cass Street sandwich joint “Italian to the bone,” pronouncing both its meat and bread high quality.

Fisk

The Scandinavian bar + eatery offers a taste of Chef Ebbe Vollmer’s travels. Make sure you make plans to visit Ebbe — located in the same building — too.

Yes, I’m also bummed about the Joann’s closure news. On a more positive note, TBAY’s own Bottom of the Bin Craft Supply is opening a second location in Brandon.

The secondhand craft store stocks goods for every kind of crafter, like fabric, yarn, and scrapbooking materials — on the cheap. Plus, you can trade in your gently used supplies.
