Tampa Bay voters can start preparing for November’s elections. Democrat Whitney Fox is one local name on the ballot after winning the nomination for Florida’s 13th Congressional District — which covers most of Pinellas County. Fox will take on incumbent Republican Anna Paulina Luna later this year. (WFLA)
Outdoors
Florida’s state parks could change in a big way. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is considering adding lodging, pickleball courts, and golf + disc golf courses to parks across the state. Two Tampa Bay state parks were mentioned: Hillsborough River and Honeymoon Island. (Tampa Bay Times)
Closing
Ella’s Folk Art Cafe is closing its doors after 15 years in business. The fan-favorite Seminole Heights eatery will shutter on Sunday, Sept. 1. That means you’ve got just over a week to say your goodbyes.
Development
Plans for the Burg’s first five-star luxury tower are coming along. Developers recently filed plans with the city for the 49-floor Waldorf Astoria Residences St. Petersburg. If approved, it would be the Sunshine City’s tallest building. (St. Pete Rising)
