The concrete is still wet on this news.
Construction on Phase 1 of Gasworx, one of Tampa’s latest mixed-use developments, is churning along. Now, we have new renderings of the community to share.
The project, from Kettler + developer Darryl Shaw, will transform 50 acres located between the Ybor Historic District and Channel District with new housing, shops, and greenspace. The centerpiece: a redesigned warehouse that will get a second life as a marketplace with open air seating.
5,000 residential units (including 300+ affordable units)
140,000 sqft of retail space
500,000 sqft of office space
What’s the timeline?
Right now the project is still in Phase 1. The neighborhood’s first apartment complex, La Union Apartments, is projected to open later this summer or in early fall. The tower will house 700+ new apartments and 10,000 sqft of retail space.
Developers also expect to start construction on the marketplace, office space, and two multi-family developments during this phase of the project.

Wondering what Tampa International’s new Airside D will look like? Us too.
The airport just released new renderings for the $1.5 billion project, which is projected to open in 2028. The design — from the Hensel Phelps, HNTB, and Gensler team — features towering ceilings, a massive light screen showing sea life, floor-to-ceiling windows, and plenty of tropical foliage.
The 16-gate complex will also boast shops and eateries with views of the gates and two airport lounges. The new Airside will host both international and domestic flights.
The new addition will bump up Tampa International’s capacity from 25 million passengers annually to 35 million annual passengers by 2037. Stay tuned: The design process is only 15% complete, so we’ll have plenty more updates before Airside D opens.

Earlier this week we asked “How many 90°+ days do you think Tampa will have this year?”
We’ll have to wait and see about the entire year, but we can recap May through August. There were 104 days — woof — with 90°+ days just in the last four months.
