Celebrate the Oasis reunion in Tampa Bay style

The Gallagher brothers perform with Oasis. There is yellow smoke and lighting around while they sing into microphones and play instruments.

Half the world away, we just got news of Oasis’ reunion. The British rock band is returning to the stage next year after a 15-year hiatus, largely due to a longstanding feud between its two most recognizable members: Liam and Noel Gallagher. Brotherly love.

Whether you sported a Gallagher mop hairstyle in the 90s, or have only heard “Wonderwall” at karaoke, we’re here to help with Oasis-inspired suggestions for the Tampa Bay area.

“Wonderwall”

Wondrous walls line our area, many of which feature glorious murals. The song could also pay homage to Tampa Bay’s rapid development, with new walls appearing seemingly daily. We’ve got a new ballpark in the works, the next phase of Water Street Tampa on its way, Gasworx on the horizon, plus dozens more upcoming developments transforming our area.

“Don’t Look Back in Anger”

...but instead look back in awe at one of our area’s esteemed museums. The Tampa Bay History Center covers ~12,000 years of Floridian history, and just announced its upcoming exhibits for the next 18 months.

Or head to St. Pete where The Dalí Museum traces the life + work of one of the world’s most storied artists.

“Champagne Supernova”

Let the bubbly flow over brunch at one of 50+ local spots, or grab a drink at a discounted price during happy hour.

Our latest recommendation? Pluma Lounge — the new Juno & the Peacock-adjoining concept on St. Pete’s picture-perfect Beach Drive.

“She’s Electric”

Celebrate music with more music at a show by one of the female artists gracing the Amalie Arena stage later this year. We’re talking about Sabrina Carpenter, Cyndi Lauper, Ana Gabriel, and Kacey Musgraves.

Or grab the electric partner in your life + scoot them to a date night spot.

Just when you thought Paris 2024 was over, it’s time to get the Stars and Stripes out again to cheer on Team USA. The Paris 2024 Paralympics Games start today and run through Sunday, Sept. 8, featuring 549 events across 22 sports.

Let’s meet the two athletes representing the Tampa Bay area:

Jenson Van Emburgh | Para Table Tennis

The Belleair Beach local is competing at his second Paralympic Games. The Seminole High School grad won a bronze medal at Tokyo 2020, and took home the silver at the 2022 World Championships.

    Tracy Otto | Para Archery

It’s the first Paralympics experience for the Plant City native and University of Tampa alum — who won gold at the 2024 Para Pan American Championships. Otto’s Instagram bio reads, “blessed to be given a second chance at life.” Her story is worth a read. Editor’s note: This story covers sensitive topics relating to domestic violence.

We asked for your thoughts on the proposal to develop Florida’s state parks

A wooden swinging bench at Honeymoon Island State Park. The structure is in the sand, with tufts of grass scattered about, and faces still Gulf of Mexico waters. The white sand contrasts the rich blue water and light blue cloudless sky.

Honeymoon Island is a popular beach day spot.

And we got quite the response. An overwhelming 85% of voters said they are opposed to the idea to add golf courses, disc golf courses, pickleball courts, and lodging to nine Sunshine State state parks, including two in the Tampa Bay area.

There were 11% who voiced support for the plans, and 4% remain unsure.
    The vote is still open
