Drink Up Week is finally here and we have a feeling it’ll be the toast of the town.
Here’s the tea — today through Friday, July 26, we’re celebrating the entrepreneurs, mixologists, venues, and beverages that make Tampa Bay City go ‘round.
As you know, we’ve created an interactive map of can’t-miss deals offered by local businesses in Tampa + the Burg. Here are the top deals our TBAYtoday editors have their eyes on — and what they plan to pair with these drinks.
Bailey is going for the $2 off craft cocktails at LALA St. Pete. She’s dropping in on Friday with her bestie because espresso martinis are always in the cards — and she’s pairing her drink with the menu’s Lala fries. She might even end the night with a little karaoke — featuring Britney Spears, of course.
City Editor Patrick can’t wait for the BOGO Guinness at the James Joyce Irish Pub & Eatery in Ybor City along with some shepherd’s pie egg rolls (don’t knock them ‘til you’ve tried them).
We hope you enjoy sipping your way through our city this week. Cheers to you and happy Drink Up Week, TBAY.

Our beloved Tampa is always changing. As the great philosopher Ferris Bueller, of “Day Off” fame, once said: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts’ new exhibit “Photo Ybor: Then and Now” makes sure take in all the little ways Ybor has evolved. The recently opened show tells the story of the historic Tampa neighborhood from its founding in 1886 until today.
In it, the show’s artist Chip Weiner pairs photographs created by the Burgert Brothers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries with new shots he took at the exact same spots, at the same angle, and at the same time of day.
The collection also features artwork showing the businesses and people of the neighborhood from a range of other artists.
Tickets to the museum range from $10-$12. Catch the show through Nov. 17.

Now for the (highly subjective) results.
The bulk of our readers said it has to be the Burg. We can’t argue that the Cigar City and St. Pete have quite a bit in common. They even share the same waters.
The second — and also a popular choice — was “America’s Finest City,” also known as San Diego. We have to agree that the tourism hotspots are definitely sisters in spirit.
And finally, the Gold Coast of Australia, followed by Denver brought up the rear.
