Here’s how you can support free, unbiased local journalism in Tampa Bay

Our city editors smile up from a graphic that says "Support unbiased local media."
We’re dedicated to delivering you impactful, relevant, and positive local news. | Graphic by 6AM City
Hey there. It’s Bailey and Patrick, the local City Editors you know and love. Allow us to pass the mic to 126 of our coworkers. (Yes, that’s right — an entire team is behind each day’s newsletter, and we couldn’t do it without them.)

We are 6AM City, the parent company of TBAYtoday. We’re the people on a mission to engage communities by aggregating the most positive, impactful local news and events into a free, daily email newsletter. Maybe you caught the magic word in there — free. We’re proud that our product comes at no cost for subscribers, and we intend to keep it that way.

This week, we’re asking for support

We get hundreds of thank you emails every week, and we couldn’t be more grateful that we impact your lives. Several of you have asked how you can support us. We have a goal to raise $2,500 over the next 10 days, and we’re calling on you to join in.

You may have gotten something out of reading TBAYtoday, like finding that life-changing concert in our Events section, or using our recommendations on the perfect way to spend the day with grandkids. If that was you, we’re calling on you now to support our mission.

A collage of photos of our colleagues out enjoying their cities.

We’ve got immense pride in our readership, our colleagues, and the cities we live in.

Stress-free morning news

Fun fact: We’ve turned down more than a million dollars in political ads since we first started — we’re that serious about our brand promise. In election years like 2024, advertisers move their money around, and those fluctuations impact businesses like ours who don’t accept political ad dollars.

This year, your contribution will go incredibly far to support our staff, back an unbiased approach to local and participatory journalism, and keep our product free for the whole community.

Earlier this week, we asked for your favorite Busch Gardens roller coaster. Here’s what you said:

A ground-floor look at the building site at Phoenix Gardens. The winding blue track is in front, with several people in high-viz jackets and hard hats stood nearby behind a barrier. The ground is sandy and construction equipment surrounds the track.

    Boots are on the ground.

As you may recall, we recently wrote about Busch Gardens’ exciting new development: Phoenix Rising. The coaster is set to debut later this year, and is billed as the “best first ‘big kid coaster’ to ride,” by BG President Stewart Clark.

Until then, the park will continue to provide thrills + excitement, just as it has done since 1959. According to you, our readers, SheiKra is the best ride, with 43% of you labeling the red beast your fave.

In second place was Cheetah Hunt, which reaches speeds of 60 mph, with 36% of the vote. There was less love for Iron Gwazi (14%) and Kumba (7%).

If you’re after even more summer excitement, I’ve got good news. One of my absolute favorite spots for a sweet treat is teasing a summer menu: Cinnaholic. The spot’s dairy-free eats are always a hit.
