  • St. Petersburg City Council is putting $3.5 million in federal dollars toward housing efforts. The breakdown includes: $1.5 million for utility bill assistance, $1.5 million for past-due Duke Energy Florida electric bills, $150,000 for housing stability for 30 families + $100,00 to help 50 households with security deposits and application fees.   • Another arts experience is coming to Water Street Tampa. Studio Roosegaarde’s “Waterlicht” will illuminate 500 ft down Channelside Drive and Cumberland Avenue this Friday, Oct. 27-Sunday, Oct. 29. The free art show uses LED lighting, software, lenses, and humidity to make guests feel like they’re underwater. (That’s So Tampa)

  • Big changes are coming for the area around the Clearwater Marina. A developer filed a stormwater application for a 64-unit condominium building at 708 N. Osceola Ave. — the first step in the plans for the incoming Clearwater Marina District. (St. Pete Catalyst)

  • The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is going global. The TBAY institution is joining an online animal showcase of zoos called Zoolife + is the first aquarium to join the lineup. The aquarium will offer new webcam viewing of the animals, and showcase its research and educational content. (Tampa Bay Times)

  • Derek Jeter’s former Davis Islands home will soon be replaced with an “ecologically innovative” mansion. The new custom build will combine European and modern styles + sit at 30,000 sqft — about the size of a Sprouts Farmers Market. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

  • Ready, set, register. Registration opens next Monday, Oct. 30 for the 2024 Skyway 10K. The iconic race takes runners 200 feet over Tampa Bay + is booked for Sunday, March 3. This year’s event is first come, first served and opens at 8 a.m. Sign up online. (Tampa Bay Times)

If pumpkin patches and corn mazes are a bit too tame for your spooky season expectations, you might give the Haunted Wharf a try. The haunted pirate shipwreck takes over Sparkman Wharf this weekend... and beckons you aboard.

The free (and yes, family-friendly) celebration is booked for 5:30-10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 + Saturday, Oct. 28. Both nights feature a DJ and dancing — DJ Matt Dodge is playing on Friday night and DJ Ali V is on Saturday. There will also be local eats, drinks, and cocktails for purchase.

The lineup also includes:
  • Siren swing
  • Jail cell
  • Drop-down scare window
  • Face painting
  • Caricature station
