  • The Straz Center for the Performing Arts has a new construction timeline for its redevelopment project. A one-year delay to the project was approved, pushing groundbreaking to Nov. 2024 + the tentative grand opening to Jan. 2027. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

  • Heads up, Tampans: The Rough Riders’ 2024 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place downtown, rather than Ybor City. The decision was made in order to coincide with the River O’ Green and make the event more family-friendly. (Tampa Bay Times)

  • No. 24. That’s where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers landed on Forbes’ roundup of the NFL’s Most Valuable Teams in 2023. Even though the Bucs lost Brady, the team still saw a 14% value jump this season, up to $4.2 billion. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

  • MLK Boulevard’s Winn-Dixie is one of the first to become an Aldi after the announcement that hundreds of Florida locations will be acquired + converted.   • The TECO Line Streetcar reached a new annual ridership record for fiscal year 2023 with more than 1.3 million passenger trips. In case you missed it, the streetcar announced last month that it will remain fee-free for fiscal year 2024. (That’s So Tampa, Tampa Bay Times)

Ready the Halloween costumes

Shellebrate Halloween at the Florida Aquarium’s Guppyween

Don’t be a fish out of water.

The Florida Aquarium is getting in the Halloween spirit with its annual Guppyween event on Saturday, Oct. 28 + Sunday, Oct. 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The not-so-spooky celebration includes trick-or-treating stations throughout the aquarium, music, a dance party, animal encounters (including some pretty creepy critters), appearances by Rocky and Tango, costumed divers, and underwater pumpkin carving.

Kids wearing costumes get in free with a paid adult admission.

The Aquarium is also hosting a sensory-friendly Guppyween on Saturday morning from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with adapted lights and sounds. Tickets will cost $10 per guest.
