Will you have breakfast or “normal” tacos? | Photo by TBAYtoday
Technically you could try all of Tampa Bay’s new restaurants, bakeries, smoothie shops, and breweries yourself, but we figured we’d, ahem, conduct our own research. Here’s some of TBAY’s newest spots you have to try.
Sunrise Tacos
Located just off the main drag in St. Pete Beach, the second Sunrise Tacos location opened earlier this year. The spot is open every day from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and serves breakfast tacos, guac, street corn, and quesadillas all day. And if you’re not feeling tacos, Sunrise also has ample açaí bowls, smoothies, and drinks to fuel your beach day.
Plus, add iced coffee, a Jarritos soda, or a chai to your order.

We tried the barbacoa taco, eggs and chorizo taco, and an iced coffee — it was breakfast, after all. We especially loved the heat of the barbacoa taco and the green and red sauces they brought out to pair with. But our favorite part was the the old wooden booths and beachy diner feel that Sunrise provides in spades. Check out the menu.
This is a meal best enjoyed by two.

Porchettoni Food Truck
This spot has long been on my list to try since they made the move from Miami to St. Pete in December. The Porchettoni Food Truck is parked right off Central Avenue and claims Anthony Bourdain as one of its past patrons. The boneless pork roast stuffed with herbs is a Roman specialty + comes as a platter or sandwich, and the truck also offers Chicken Parmesan, spaghetti carbonara, and wings Alfredo.
We tried the Porchetta sandwich and fries Italiana — and oh my. First off, the healthy portion is enough to launch you into a nap. The porchetta is savory, salty, and perfectly balanced with the peppers, onions, and homemade cheese sauce. Plus, the fries were perfectly coated in rosemary, black pepper, and garlic.
Pro tip: there’s a couple cute tables to sit at beside the truck, but we recommend taking this one back to your desk to chow down.
