Hey TBAY, City Editor Brad here.

I’ve been doing some app development on the side (that’s a story for another time) and wanted to share some cool Tampa Bay-centric apps I’ve found.

Have you heard of productive scrolling? It’s a way of using the apps on your phone to actually get ahead in your day-to-day activities.

If you looking to escape the rat race of social media for a day, we recommend downloading these four apps.

Remora

Help clean up TBAY’s waterways one piece of plastic at a time. The app allows you to upload the amount of single-use plastic you use in a day and challenge your friends to use less. Bonus points: it was developed by a handful of Eckerd College professors.

Remora calculates the number of plastic cups you use.

Moovit

Navigating the TBAY area has never been easier. This app offers a range of transportation options, allowing you to hail an Uber, track the nearest PSTA or HART bus, and access detailed transit schedules. It’s kind of like Waze or Google Maps but with more transit features. Pro tip: Eco-conscious peeps can set transit preferences to “Lowest CO2 emission.”

PixelStix

Love looking St. Pete’s murals but want to understand the story behind them? Enter PixelStix. Think: a museum curator in your pocket, giving you all the info on your favorite St. Pete mural. Just scan the QR code and you’ll take a deep dive into the artist’s mind.

Twos

Unorganized overthinkers looking to take a stab at hyper-productivity, this one’s for you. Enter Twos, backed by TampaBay.Ventures. The app allows you to create lists, set reminders, and manage your to-dos seamlessly — all in one place.

Our fave feature is that you can follow peeps from around the globe, gaining valuable insights into their own lists + strategies.

What apps do you use to make your day more productive? Let us know. (Bonus points if they’re TBAY-made.)
