City Editor Patrick says Ichicoro was “legit the best ramen I have ever had.”

Both Tampa and the Burg have experienced exploding growth over the past 20 years, but with that growth (and time) comes a lot of change. We’re reminiscing about the diners, bars, live music venues, stores, and other businesses that have shut their doors — though we haven’t shut them out of our hearts.

We’ll go first. City Editor Bailey misses A Friend Who Bakes, an old Gulfport bakery that whipped up the best cinnamon rolls. Meanwhile, City Editor Patrick is still dreaming of grabbing a bowl of Tonkotsu at the now-shuttered Seminole Heights fave Ichicoro Ramen .

Let us know which spots you would bring back and we’ll share them in the newsletter.

Bailey is based in St. Petersburg, FL, but hails from Ocala: the “horse capitol of the world.” Previously, she reported on education for WUSF Public Media, seniors for The Tampa Bay Times, and local government and communities for The Miami Herald and The Palm Beach Post. Happiest with sand on her sneakers, she loves visiting new parks and neighborhoods.
