While the Tampa Pig Jig may be familiar territory to many of you, those that are hungering for more really pigged the right place. The annual Tampa is quite popular, but it’s more than just a lineup of national recording artists paired with a barbecue cook-off.

This event really brings home the bacon as a fundraiser for NephCure Kidney International, an organization that is dedicated to advancing research on Kidney diseases + providing support to over 40k affected families. Over the past 11 years the Tampa Pig Jig event has donated millions to the organization, becoming its largest annual donor nationwide.

When + where

This year’s event will take place on Sat., Oct. 22 at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park (1001 N. Blvd) with the doors opening at 1 p.m. Pro Tip: Since the venue doesn’t have designated parking, plan your commute via rideshare services to avoid expensive offsite parking fees.

Tickets

General admission is $75 per person and gets you into the event, along with access to the main performance stage. For those wanting a more luxe experience, Watering Hole passes are available for $175 per person and get you access to a covered area where you can relax + mingle, and enjoy four free drinks included in your ticket purchase. Plus, children ages 10 and under are free with adult admission.

What to bring (and what not to bring)Feel free to bring your furry friend, because this event is dog friendly (as long as they’re on a leash in the General Admission area). Make sure to finish any outside drinks before entering the venue, and leave your selfie sticks, chairs, and coolers at home. Also, think small: bags larger than 12x12x12 inches are not permitted, so bringing along your fanny pack might be the move.

What to eat (and drink)

We can’t wait to see some of Tampa’s greatest barbecuers go head-to-head in contests, ranging anywhere from Best Brisket to Best Ribs. While the judges are evaluating, sample the dozens of BBQ options from local vendors, like the brisket mac & cheese (Yes, you heard us right). Now, get ready to pig out.
