Tampa Bay’s performing arts organizations start revving up big-time during the months ending in -ber (if not brrrr…). Here are some highlights of what’s coming up.

The Color Purple | Stageworks Theatre | Fri., Sept. 9-Sun., Sept. 25 | The Tony and Grammy-winning musical based on Alice Walker’s novel.

Six | Straz Center for the Performing Arts | Tues., Nov. 1-Sun., Nov. 6 | The six wives of Henry VIII sing for their lives.

Hadestown | Straz Center | Tues., Nov. 29-Sun., Dec. 4 | Anaïs Mitchell’s musical adaptation of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.

Carmina Burana | Florida Orchestra | Fri., Oct. 7-Sun., Oct. 9 | The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay joins the orchestra for Carl Orff’s epic cantata.
