Happy St. Pat’s — let’s eat

Shamrock cookies are over. Okay, not really. But what other green grub does Tampa Bay have to offer?
We have some suggestions for some less-than-traditional St. Pat’s day fare. Be our guest, put these dishes to the test — sorry:
The Rays are expected to drop the full terms of the new stadium deal next week. Hillsborough County Commissioners say the funding could include $1.15 billion in public funding, pulling from pots including the Community Investment Tax + the tax on short-term lodging. We’ll keep you posted. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)
Opening
The nationwide stationery sensation that is Rifle Paper Co. is coming to Hyde Park Village this fall. It’s the second location for the Florida-based brand that specializes in hand-painted paper goods. And that’s not all: Ralph Lauren is also setting up shop in the village.
Announced
After 1,000+ crashes over the past 10 years, Clearwater’s Drew Street is finally getting some safety upgrades. The project to add separated bike lanes, left turn lanes at busy intersections, and new crossings for pedestrians kicks off next year. (Tampa Bay Times)
Development
Could the influx of developments help keep the Burg’s arts scene alive? First off, St. Pete Council would need to approve a City Arts Fund. (I Love the Burg)
Sports
It’s an extra special March Madness for TBAY — and not just because we’re hosting part of the tourney. The Bulls just clinched a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012.
Coming Soon
Gator boys stay hot. Last year’s NCAA Men’s champs take on a First Four winner at Benchmark International Arena on Friday, March 20. See what else is on the lineup for this weekend’s hometown action. (That’s So Tampa)
Community
The recent heavy rainstorms have flooding top of mind. Coincidentally, St. Pete based-Neptune Flood recently launched an app in ChatGPT where homeowners can ask questions about flood coverage + get insurance quotes. Test it out. (St. Pete Catalyst)

Imagine holing up at this coffee bar with the regulars.

If you’re looking for a truly only-in-TBAY kind of St. Pat’s celebration, look no further. Every year, on every holiday that the spot is open, Goldie — one of Gulfport’s most famous residents — decks out patrons at Mazzaro’s coffee bar in festive beads, themed-headbands, and all kinds of regalia.
The catch is getting a seat, so make sure to get there early. Shoppers usually start lining up outside the Sunshine City grocer well before its 9 a.m opening.
The Buy
A pair of arch support socks that are engineered with biofeedback technology to improve foot alignment and stability. The Buy Editor Emily loves wearing them for runs and on days she’s on her feet a lot — thanks, hyperactive puppies.
