Keeping track of all of Tampa Bay’s ongoing construction is a full time job. But not one you need to worry about, since we’ll keep you in the loop.

Here’s your latest project updates:

Ybor Harbor progress

Construction started on the long-awaited Ybor Harbor project. Heavy machinery is on-site to set up the foundation of the new mixed-use development, according to Tampa Tomorrow. A reminder: Developer Darryl Shaw’s plans feature 800+ hotel rooms, 4,750 new residential units, and a public waterfront with boat docks and piers.

Sky Town update

The Skyway Marina District just keeps growing. Altis Cardinal recently filed plans to get started on Phase 3 of Sky Town, Tampa Bay Business Journal reports. What’s included? This installment of the St. Pete project includes 380 units, plus amenities, shopping, and a restaurant.

News Notes

Sports

Huge news, all you sons of sons of sailors. The Ocean Race — one of sailing’s Big Three races — is coming to St. Pete-Clearwater in 2027. Sailors set off from the Burg to Cascais, Portugal, and it’s the first time our part of the Gulf Coast’s hosted the race. The rest of the course is crazy too. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Biz

Earlier this week, Philip Morris International US announced plans to open a Tampa office. The company, which makes popular tobacco products like Zyn, signed a 10-year lease for a slot at the Highwoods Bay Center. Expect 180 new jobs with roles in data engineering, analytics, finance, and other related fields. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Announced

International Plaza’s getting a refresh — and some new talent. Coastal California-inspired activewear brand Vuori just filed plans to build a store in the South Tampa mall. We’ll keep you in the loop on the timeline. (Tampa Bay Business & Wealth)

Open

Naked Farmer reopens in downtown St. Pete next Friday, March 27. Thankfully, Bailey’s sick of making her own subpar mac and cheese. The team spent $1.5 million beefing up the locally-owned spot’s kitchen and refreshing its interior. See what’s on the seasonal menu. (Creative Loafing)

Listen

Tonight’s your last chance to share your vinyl faves at a cozy St. Pete bar. Sector.FM’s plays its final “Selectors” show — in which audience members can pick the tunes — at Smallbar tonight from 5 to 10 p.m. Bring a record you’d like to boogie to. (I Love the Burg)

Coming Soon

The Burg’s getting another bookstore. Where at? Pages and Perks opens in Roser Park this summer. Beyond books, the shop will serve local wine, beer, and mocktail options. Score an early look this weekend. (Creative Loafing Tampa Bay)

Health

Three Tampa Bay medical institutions received massive research grants from the National Institutes of Health. Who, and for how much? USF accepted $115.5 million, Moffitt Cancer Center took in $56.5 million, and the Jaeb Center for Health Research Inc. scored $21.2 million. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Plan Ahead

Taste of Water Street is less than a month away, and organizers promise attendees “a masterclass for your mouth.” But you can be the judge, sampling dishes from blockbuster eateries like Predalina, Boulon, and Ash. Tickets are on sale now for the Thursday, April 16 food fest.

Eat

The Heights Drive-Thru continues to roll out new offerings. Yes, you can still pick up six packs and local snacks without leaving your car. But the little drive-thru that could also serves coffee, matcha, and sandwiches during the day, and ice cream at night.

Eat

When dinner turns into a staring contest with your fridge, Forkful meals save the night. They’re fully prepared and ready in minutes — with zero seed oils and high-quality proteins. Use code CMD50 to take 50% off your first order.*

Tech

If your computer overheats with a few tabs open or sounds ready for liftoff, the problem might not be your device — it’s likely your antivirus. Many big-name brands are bulky + full of pop-ups. Webroot’s antivirus protection uses 33 times less space and scans up to six times faster. Get protected.*

March is — at least in Bailey’s opinion — one of the best months in TBAY with both unswampy weather and tons of events. So what’s going once the March Madness and Valspar Championship events wrap up later this week?

The Heights Classic 2026 | Saturday, March 28 | 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. | Rogers Park Golf Course | $135+

The Wrap

Is this a safe space to nerd out? Hopefully, since it’s LeFever time all the time around here.

I’m eyeing Prop Club Tampa’s new “Waves of Maritime” breakfast speaker series. The first event on Thursday, March 26, digs into Port Tampa Bay’s beginnings and its evolution.
