A Sunset on St. Pete Beach. The sky is orange and yellow, with a dark beach before it in the shadows.

Spring is on the horizon.

British Columbia just made the switch to daylight saving time all the time, but for now we’re still making the tedious turnover.

Now that we’ve scored a glorious extra hour of sun, here’s some ideas for how to spend it:

News Notes

Opening

DI Coffee Bar officially opens in Midtown East today. It’s the third location for the Davis Islands beanery which serves Panther coffee. We’re headed in for a “Heated Rivalry”-inspired “I’m coming to the cottage” latte infused with white mocha, hazelnut, and Irish crème.

Mansion Monday

While TBAYtoday doesn’t pick favorites, Bailey does. This 1934 Mediterranean estate built by E.N. Staples refuses to leave her mind; its tab forever open on her laptop. Balconies, French doors, and the “Magnolia Patio.” Yeah, you’ve gotta see it.

Seasonal

After losing an hour of sleep this past weekend, it’s time to make it worth it. Now the sun is setting after 7 p.m. again, we can spend more time exploring our beautiful local parks. If you need some inspo, our events calendar will be full of outdoor fun for the foreseeable future.

Try This

March is National Craft Month — the perfect excuse to dive into a creative hobby. Whether you want to pick up a new skill or DIY some fresh home decor, Tampa Bay’s got plenty of crafty options.

Pets

Why did the chicken cross the road? To become friends with a pack of dogs, apparently. You could recreate Stevie’s remarkable story with our guide to owning chickens in TBAY. (Guardian)

Film

Cue the theme music. Warner Bros. is planning a film adaptation of “Game of Thrones,” set 300 years before the events of the iconic series. While we wait, Tampa Bay’s museums are the closest things we’ve got to a Westeros-bound teleport. (Guardian)

Sports

The future stars of the LPGA are headed to Lakeland for the Orlando Health Championship, an Epson Tour event. Entry is free to catch professional women’s golf at Grassland’s Golf & Country Club, Friday, March 20-Sunday, March 22.*

Number

$0. That’s how much 94% of Nourish patients pay out of pocket to talk to a dietitian covered by their insurance. You could be covered, too — check your coverage + get matched with a dietitian who can cut through the food noise and build you a plan to thrive.*
