It’s um kind of a big weekend for every kind of Tampan. There’s everything from tantalizing tacos, towering trucks, raucous racecars, accomplished artists, and booming bluesy tunes to be had across Tampa Bay this weekend.
Hey, even the Statue of Liberty got a facelift. The Tampa Theatre will soon undergo a $13.5 million restoration as it approaches its centennial celebration. Beginning in March, Creative Contractors will beef up the theatre’s lighting and audio while a plaster team repairs the thousands of stars coating the ceiling. (St. Pete Catalyst)
Watch out, Winter Park, TBAY’s got its own Bosphorous now. The Turkish restaurant just opened in a brand-new 5,000-sqft space in the EDGE District. Haul the young folks in your life over to Hope in Action this weekend for a healthy dose of environmental activism. Adults can take part too, with an Environmental Expo on Saturday, Feb. 28, featuring a tribute honoring Dr. Jane Goodall + a screening of Disney and Pixar’s “Hoppers.”

The new-ish Gasparilla Clean Team is meeting up in North Hyde Park this Sunday, March 1, to clear the area around Willa’s Provisions. The German American Society of Pinellas County is hosting its annual Sausage Party — surely not the only one this weekend — this Saturday, Feb. 28.
