Resist the couch — or bed — rot

Dead Week or Feral Week — what some call the week between Christmas and New Year’s — is fast approaching. Even as a self-proclaimed bed person I can only handle so much lazy time, and need some plans to amp up the holiday break.

May I recommend checking out The Dalí’s latest exhibition: Alberto Giacometti & Salvador Dalí: Through & Beyond Surrealism? Giacometti was one of the foremost sculptors of the 20th century, and the exhibit features 70+ pieces like his “Suspended Ball.”

Plus, the show explores the parallels between the two surrealists’ lives, inspiration, and influential work.

But if surrealism isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of other renowned museums within driving distance:

Florida Museum of Photographic Arts | $10-$12
The collection is comprised of photographs ranging from historical to contemporary times.

Safety Harbor Art and Music Center | $25
The nonprofit, mirrored mosaic venue boasts an ODD-itorium, magical unicorn, and giant elephant sculptures — in addition to its slate of classes and events.

Meridian Fields at Water Street Tampa.jpg

The home of Gasparilla Music festival’s next era.

Photo via Aerial Innovations

We have Beer Can Building-sized news, live music fans. After a brief hiatus, Gasparilla Music Festival returns next April, but at a new home in Water Street Tampa.

The musical acts will play out across 11.5 acres at 101 S. Meridian Ave. — known as Meridian Fields — from April 10–12, 2026, according to a release.

Leaders expect nearly 10,000 music lovers to attend each day of the major festival, bringing in tons of people (and their business) to the bustling neighborhood’s eateries, shops, and other attractions.

We’ll keep you updates on the lineup, but please send all guesses our way.

The Wrap

There’s far too many festive movie nights booked for this week — so many that they would take over the events roundup. There’s a showing of “The Polar Express” on the Pier, “Elf” at Yuengling Draft Haus & Kitchen, or “A Miser Brothers’ Christmas” at Huggins-Stengel Field.

Or if you’re just in the mood for a great un-festive movie, the Tampa Theatre is screening “One Battle After Another” all weekend.
