Bonsai & Brews | 7-9 p.m. | Crooked Thumb Brewery | $75 | Sip on a sudsy brew while planting your own tropical species pre-bonsai tree in a stately ceramic pot.
WMNF Save Our Soundwaves Benefit Show | 8 p.m. | Crowbar Ybor City | $10+ | Rock out to local artists like Mestaurant, Lychee Camp, Shelby Sol & Jinx, and Pet Lizard at this show supporting the TBAY public radio station.
Friday, Aug. 29
Laser Light Shows | 6:30 p.m. | Museum of Science and Industry Tampa | $10+ | Step inside America’s second-largest planetarium for a 360-degree light show set to smash hits.
Secret Spaces | Friday, Aug. 29-Sunday, Sept. 7 | Times vary | Greater New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Tampa | $75 | Sneak into the historic hidden venue live music, dance, immersive theater, and storytelling that reimagines the Cigar City’s past through a bold artistic lens.

Children’s Board Free Family Day: Farewell Summer | 11 a.m.-4 p.m. | Tampa Museum of Art | Free | Give summer a proper goodbye with artmaking, a scavenger hunt, and snacks that celebrate the best of summer + roam the renowned galleries.

Sunday, Aug. 31
Labor Day Cookout | 12 p.m. | The Tampa EDITION | Price of purchase | It’s sure to be one of the fanciest cookouts you’ve ever been to with premium steaks, wagyu burgers, and artisanal sausages grilled up on the boutique hotel’s rooftop.
You don’t slice these famed bagels, they’re the tearing kind. The “not famous, but known” chain Pop-Up Bagels is opening in WestShore Plaza next Friday, Sept. 5. Stop by for plain, poppy, salt, and sesame bagels, tubs of schmear, and the fishy works.
Travel
Traveling with the tikes just got a lot easier. Tampa International just unveiled a new TSA lane for folks with younger children. What’s the age limit? Families with kids 12-and-under can use the lane at all of the airport’s terminals. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)
Development
Demolition of Robles Park, Tampa’s oldest remaining public housing complex, starts next month. Plans for the redevelopment include housing and new amenities, plus, preserving the Zion Cemetery graves located under the buildings + a memorial and genealogy center. (WUSF News)

“Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives"-featured Buya Ramen is serving its last bowls in the Edge District this weekend. Not to worry, owners of the popular ramen spot plan to reopen in one the Sunshine City’s new high rises next year. (Creative Loafing Tampa Bay)
