Civic

St. Pete leaders recently approved an Emergency Fiscal Response plan. What does that mean? When disasters — like back-to-back hurricanes — strike, the Emergency Fiscal Response team will activate to better coordinate citywide fiscal response efforts. (St. Pete Catalyst)

Floridian

Florida Peninsula Insurance is massively slashing its rates. The group is planning to cut its homeowner’s premiums by 8.4% and condo coverage by 12% — its largest decrease in rates in 20 years. Don’t get too excited: The changes don’t go into effect until later this year or 2026. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Do we have any pickleball haters? Well, it appears Hillsborough County has some, because county commissioners narrowly voted 4-3 not to pause permitting for pickleball courts near residential neighborhoods. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)
