Tampa Bay Water is looking to improve its resiliency following last year’s back-to-back hurricanes. The agency is considering upping maintenance on generators, stockpiling spare parts for repairs during storms, improving access to third-party generators in emergencies, branching into underground power, and adding a fuel station. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Announced

The Woodson African American Museum of Florida revoked its $10 million request from Pinellas County. The money would have gone toward a new museum in the redeveloped Gas Plant District. But right now, the stadium and the neighborhood redevelopment deal hang in the lurch. (Tampa Bay Times)

Coming Soon

This one’s for the girls. Divine Iron Gym, a women-only gym, is opening soon in Tampa’s WestShore Plaza. The 50,000-sqft facility will offer Pilates classes, personal training, boot camps, and a recovery spa. The South Tampa gym opens this spring. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Development

What’s rising up on Central Avenue? A new mixed-used complex fittingly named The Central. Ellison Development plans to open the first component of the project, a 531-space parking garage next month. The Edge District project also includes a hotel, retail and office space, and housing. (St. Pete Rising)

Real Estate

Clearwater leaders are requesting proposals to redevelop the downtown library. The city is hoping to bring in a museum, planetarium, or performing arts institution to transform the underused space — which sits adjacent to Coachman Park and The BayCare Sound. Leaders also want to bring in dining options or other amenities. (Tampa Bay Times)

Try This

The Florida Strawberry Festival returns tomorrow, Feb. 27 and runs through Sunday, March 9. The 90th annual Tampa Bay tradition is packed with strawberry-filled desserts, food competitions, and even a performance by a famous red-haired singer (i.e. Reba McEntire). Make your plan of attack. (Tampa Bay Times)

$20 tickets? Say less. The Rays are offering a limited number of standing room-only tickets for their regular season games at Steinbrenner Field. There will be 100 Rays Rush tickets available per game — scoring you a spot behind the outfield wall in leftfield and right-center. (Tampa Bay Times)
