St. Pete City Council members voted not to spend ~$24 million to begin the necessary repairs on Tropicana Field, after initially approving the funding hours earlier. They also voted to delay their vote on bonds for the new Rays stadium to January, following a similar decision by the Commission earlier this week. (Tampa Bay Times)

It’s the question of the hour: If the Rays abandon the new stadium deal will they still own the Gas Plant District land? The city’s best chance at keeping the land is if the Rays back out of the deal, one official said at Tuesday’s Pinellas County Commission meeting. Right now, there’s not a clear answer. South Tampa’s Parkland Estates struggles with major flooding. So how will it be addressed? The potential plan — which includes installing box culverts throughout the neighborhood and South Howard Avenue would push the water into Hillsborough Bay.
