A Message From Our Team

Dear readers,

Our thoughts are with our community and surrounding areas in the wake of Hurricane Milton. Our local team is small and mighty — Bailey and Patrick bring the newsletter you love to life every single day. Rilee, Victoria, and Jessica (former editorial team members) now work for our parent company 6AM City. And just down the street, we’ve got the amazing Connor and Amelia in Lakeland.

Like many of you, they’ve spent the weekend in varying states of evacuation and recovery, without power, cell service, or access to their homes. They are all safe, and we are so thankful for that.

While they continue to assess conditions in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, TBAYtoday is going to look a little different.

1. We are cutting back on daily social posts this next week.

2. We are removing the events section this week, until we hear more from our team and are confident that businesses and organizations are re-opening. (If you want to look ahead to planned events for later in the year, our calendar is always just a click away on our website.)

3. We’ll continue to use our News Notes section to bring you the latest need-to-know information from your city.

4. As usual, we’ll use our lead and secondary story placements to direct you to community resources for service, aid, and support; volunteering opportunities (if you’re able); and positive or interesting stories about Tampa as the city comes back online.

Please reach out, as you’ve always done, to let us know what we’re doing well, how we can improve, and what you’d like to see more coverage of.

Sincerely,

Erin McPherson
VP of Editorial
and all of us at 6AM City

From the editor
Hello readers! I’m Josh, one of the managers here at 6AM.

This newsletter was a team effort, with help from Patrick and Bailey, as well as other managers. We’re all helping each other here, just like what we’ve seen for the past couple weeks in Florida after Helene and Milton.

One more tidbit for y’all. If you are eligible for disaster assistance but haven’t applied yet, you can apply by heading to DisasterAssistance.gov, downloading the FEMA mobile app, or by calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362).

Stay safe, TBAY.
