Environment
If you used sandbags during Hurricane Helene, the next step is disposing of the dirty bags. Hillsborough County suggests locals scatter sand on their lawns — not at the beach — and disposing the bag as trash if they’re able. Otherwise, used sandbags can be dropped off at Community Collection Centers.

Thrift shop Top Buttons has opened at 861 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg. The nonprofit resells designer clothing with the mission of using proceeds to develop programs that empower young women. The store relies on donations from locals to stock the shelves. (The St. Pete Catalyst)
Number
11 hours, 59 minutes, and 6 seconds. That’s the amount of time between the sunrise and sunset at Old Tampa Bay, making today the first day of the season with less than 12 hours of sunlight — and days will continue getting shorter until the winter solstice.

I hope everyone is doing well as Hurricane Helene’s impacts pass. I’ve used this as an opportunity to watch old movies, and in case you didn’t know, there’s a sequel to Disney’s 1961 film “The Parent Trap.” In 1986, “The Parent Trap II” was released and partially filmed in Tampa, including scenes at Mitchell Elementary School.
