Whether you frequent Charlotte, NC often or only know it from the latest season of “Love is Blind,” the Queen City is blooming with springtime fun.
Here are five can’t-miss activities and events happening this season (that are absolutely worth the trip):
🎶 A brand-new music festival
Get ready to rock, because the first-ever Lovin’ Life Music Fest is happening Friday, May 3-Sunday, May 5 in Uptown’s First Ward.
Post Malone, Stevie Nicks, Noah Kahan, Maggie Rogers + The Chainsmokers are headlining the inaugural multi-genre festival. The full lineup features 40+ artists on three stages, including Charlotte native DaBaby and a full set from The Avett Brothers.
The Queen City has an abundance of unique rooftop bars and restaurants. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but here are a couple good callouts: The Charlotte Beer Garden has one of the largest selections of draft beer available in one restaurant + Graham Street Pub & Patio is conveniently located near Bank of America Stadium and Truist Field.
Wherever you end up, your food and drinks are almost guaranteed to be paired with views of Charlotte’s stunning skyline.
🏎️ A huge NASCAR race
Prepare for full-throttle fun this Memorial Day weekend, because the 65th running of the historic Coca-Cola 600 is on Sunday, May 26. The NASCAR races begin at 6 p.m. at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Pro-tip: Arrive early for driver appearances + a Matchbox Twenty concert.

But wait, there’s more. A new concept by P. F. Chang’s is on its way to St. Pete. Pagoda Asian Grill offers build-your-own-bowl options and will soon open its doors at 1550 66th St. N. An opening date is not yet set. (St. Pete Catalyst)
Real Estate
This is getting silly now. Seminole Heights restaurant Gangchu Chicken and Beer is on the market for $1.9 million. Owner Noel Cruz — of Ichicoro fame — opened the spot at 6618 N. Nebraska Ave. back in 2021, serving up Korean fare, including fried chicken and Asian tacos. (Creative Loafing Tampa Bay)

The City of Tampa is planning to spend at least $25 million annually to address its affordable housing shortage. That’s more than twice the $12 million allocated in last year’s budget. The city’s goal is to create or preserve 10,000 affordable homes by 2027. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)
Number
$3 million. That’s how much a historic Indian Rocks Beach boathouse home is listed for. The spot at 81 Gulf Blvd. was built by Harry Ulmer in 1912 and sits right on the Intracoastal Waterway. Ulmer once had a citrus property along what is today known as Ulmerton Road in Pinellas County. (St. Pete Catalyst)

The 10-week program is split into five separate blocks, beginning Monday, June 3, and ending Friday, Aug. 9 — find the exact dates of each session.

Solar eclipse glasses — check. “Busy” on my work calendar — check. Camping chair set up outside — check. I’m ready for the eclipse.
And so are you, it seems. Earlier this week, we asked you when the last solar eclipse impacted the Tampa Bay area. Most of you got it right, with ~60% selecting 2017, which is when TBAY had a maximum obscuration of 81%.
