The weather might be rainy and not so delightful, but that’s alright. It’s time to embrace the chillier weather and most importantly, soup season, TBAY.
Whether you’re looking for a classic tomato soup vibe or something a bit more local, we’ve got you covered:
Columbia Restaurant, multiple locations — This iconic spot touts that its Spanish bean soup “made the Columbia famous.” According to the restaurant, the dish is “the original recipe of Casimiro Hernandez, Sr.” and melds together Garbanzo beans, smoked ham, chorizo sausage, and potatoes in a chicken and ham broth.
The Burg Diner, 2950 49th St. N., St. Petersburg — Suffering from a nagging cold or the winter blues? Your doctor — TBAYtoday — recommends this spot’s Mama’s Chicken Lemon soup.
The Brass Monkey, 709 Gulf Way #200, St. Pete Beach — Head over to this Pass-a-Grille spot for City Editor Bailey’s favorite cream of crab soup and amazing views of the water. Pro tip: Arrive just before sunset so you can watch the sun sink from your perch on the balcony.
Trip’s Diner, multiple locations — This TBAY diner has it all, including some top notch soup options. Stop by for a bowl or cup of French onion, lobster bisque, chili, or make it a soup and salad combo.
Did we miss your favorite soup spot? Let us know and we might spill the broth in an encore.
