2023 has been a busy year for the Tampa Bay area’s music scene. With a bunch of recent concert announcements for next year, we looked ahead to 19 upcoming shows you can start getting excited about:

  • This is one for the empanada fans. The grand opening for Gordito’s is is at Sparkman Wharf tomorrow, Wednesday, Nov. 15. The spot offers meat + veggie options, plus a range of flavored shaved ice. One lucky visitor will receive two free empanadas + a shaved ice. (That’s So Tampa)

  • Tulum-inspired dining concept Concrete Jungle is opening its doors in St. Pete soon. Located at 475 Central Ave., the two-story spot offers a range of ambitious food + cocktail choices. We were invited for a preview night — take a sneak peek.
Plan Ahead
  • Kathy Griffin is coming to Tampa next year. The legendary comedian/actor will perform at the Straz Center on Thursday, May 16. Tickets go on general sale this Friday, Nov. 17 + start at about $50. (WFLA)

  • No. 28. That’s where St. Pete recently ranked on a list of the Best US Cities for Singles. The list was compiled using measures like cost of living, dating environments, and access to dining + entertainment. Tampa followed at No. 32.

  • The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts has a new location in Ybor City. Mayor Jane Castor + museum officials cut the ribbon last week at the historic Kress Building (1630 E. Seventh Ave.). (Creative Loafing Tampa Bay)
Cause
  • Clearwater-based nonprofit Hope Villages of America is giving away 1,500 Thanksgiving meals. At least 1,200 have already been given out as part of the “Turkey Tickets” program in collaboration with the Salvation Army. (St. Pete Catalyst)

The Tampa Bay area is getting into the festive spirit. The Tampa Downtown Partnership’s Winter Village returns to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on Friday, Nov. 17 and runs through New Year’s Day.

Here’s what you can expect to get up to:

☃️ Enjoy new theme days like Sensory Skate Mondays, Shop Small Saturdays, and Street Curling Wednesdays.
☃️ Skate on a 5,000-sqft ice rink — tickets are $17 for 90 minutes + must be bought in advance.
☃️ Skate Night Tuesdays feature events like neon night on Dec. 5, ugly sweater night on Dec. 12, and Lightning night on Dec. 19.
☃️ Browse wares from a range of small businesses and explore wintry food + drink options.
☃️ Snap a pic with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus on three Fridays: Dec. 1, 8, and 15.
☃️ Catch a screening of “Elf” at the Holiday Movie Night on Saturday, Dec. 16.
