Prost, TBAY. The beer may be colder than the temps, but that’s just how we like it at Oktoberfest Tampa, the area’s largest Oktoberfest event.

The annual celebration is coming up in a few short weeks, so we’re raising a glass and giving you the lowdown on how best to enjoy the fest.

Your guide to Tampa Bay’s coffee shops

An iced coffee on a table in Hyde Park Village. The clear container is full of light brown liquid, and the drink is close to the camera on a wooden table. A blurry fountain is in the background, with water spraying down. Trees are visible, and a gap through the trees shows a mostly blue sky with a few clouds.

Tomorrow is a very important holiday for us newsletter writers: National Coffee Day (followed quickly by International Coffee Day on Sunday, Oct. 1).

We’re not in a bad place to celebrate, that’s for sure; Tampa ranked No. 6 while St. Pete came in at No. 56 on Wallethub’s recent “Best Coffee Cities in America” list. But if you’re having trouble deciding on a spot, gather some brews clues with our guide to some of the best coffee shops in the Tampa Bay area.

Roasts to boast

King State, 520 E. Floribraska Ave., Tampa | This long-time hipster hangout rocks more than a sick outdoor patio + old timey bar. King State boasts some of the best beans around with roasts like Peru Cajamarca, which brings plum, sugar cane, and earthy notes.

On-the-go joe

Kahwa Coffee, various locations | This coffee roaster has locations all throughout TBAY for easy access and the best croissant breakfast sandwiches. Plus, the shop is celebrating National Coffee Day tomorrow with free small coffee drinks.

From the editor
I’m back, TBAY. I’m just helping out a bit while your new City Editor, Patrick, finishes up training and gets settled in. Though I may not get the chance to attend Tampa’s Oktoberfest, I will be heading to a fall celebration in my own city this weekend — an apple festival. 🍎
