The City of Tampa is taking traffic safety to the next level with its latest project: Crosswalks to Classrooms.
Right now, painters are coloring the intersection of West Morrison + South Grady Avenue, which leads to Grady Elementary, in reds, yellows, and blues.
The design aims not only to slow down drivers but also remind them that children have a right to safe passage when walking to school, according to a release.
“These colorful crosswalks not only enhance the safety of our students but also incorporate public art, adding vibrancy and character to our community. It’s a win-win for everyone,” Mayor Jane Castor said.
The engineering firm Atkins Global is covering the cost of the mural and telling its employees to donate books to the school.
My first job was at Duck Donuts. I am so sorry if you had an order that went through me. I pretty much ruined every single ticket. Looking back, I can safely say that donut-making was not my calling.
However, I did enjoy not letting those mess-ups go to waste. Wink. Wink.
