Local children in the Tampa Bay area are in need of essential items — whether they’re in foster care or in struggling families

Yesterday, Hillsborough County’s Children Services launched "Duffels for Dignity”a program which provides luggage to children in difficult domestic situations . The county is asking for the community to donate now.

Accepted donations include:

  • New/gently used duffel bags (24-28 in.) or suitcases (wheelie bags, suitcases with handles, and backpacks are all accepted)
  • Personal care items (new and in their original packaging)
  • Toothbrushes + toothpaste
  • Combs and brushes
  • Shampoos and conditioners
  • Deodorants

Drop off donations at the Hillsborough County Children’s Services Administrative Office at 3191 Clay Mangum Lane.

The donations will go to kids dealing with foster care, homes of domestic abuse, or homeless circumstances. The county says providing children with these items gives them hope and the resources they need to survive as they walk through challenges.
