The city is celebrating its 136th birthday this week with a slew of history-focused events and parties. Here’s what’s on tap today + tomorrow:

Friday, July 14

  • Meet at the Bricks at 6:30 p.m. to hear Sarah McNamara, a Tampa native, historian, and author of “Ybor City: Crucible of the Latina South,” digs into the radicals and revolutionaries who made Ybor City. Plus, enjoy themed-cocktails, music, and art.

Saturday, July 15

  • Sarah McNamara kicks off an hour-long walking tour through Ybor City’s streets at 10:30 a.m. Afterwards, the Bricks is rolling out the best part of any celebration... cake.
  • Head to Water Works Park from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for Tampa’s Biggest Birthday Party — complete with games, prizes, live entertainment, food trucks, and giveaways.
