Where to try NYT food predictions in Tampa Bay

The publication put out its annual list of food trend predictions, but some forward-thinking Tampa Bay spots are ahead of the game.

Two handcrafted lattes, one with sesame seeds and dates on top and another with a frothed design, sit on a wooden stump table in front of a rattan chair.

Goals for 2025? To be ahead of the curve. The New York Times put together a list of food trend predictions, and several Tampa Bay spots were embracing these foodie movements before they hit the mainstream.

Coffee changes

The publication predicts a shift to savory coffee drinks this year. Swap the vanilla latte for Daycation Coffee & Tea’s ode to my 90s, a short iced latte with a mound of salted black sesame cream, served with two crunchy date slices.

On-the-go grub

It seems like we’re always on the move, and the Times says 2025 shouldn’t be any different. With grab-and-go fare expected to rise up the ranks, lean on the fridge and freezer sections at Willa’s Provisions, Mazzaro’s Italian Market, and Pure Kitchen when things get busy.

Buzz without booze

Could we see Dry January trends throughout 2025? Bookmark this list of alcohol-free sips so sober-friendly fun is always just a click away. Kava drinks have also gained popularity, and TBAY has jumped on the trend at Bula Kava House and Kava Culture Kava Bar.

Fresh produce

As it turns out, 2025 might be the year we buy spinach and eat it all before it goes bad. Join a local CSA program or shop local produce from one of the stops on our farmers market guide.

Cozy hospitality

The NYT says people will seek intimate and cozy dining experiences that emphasize eating together. We’ve told you about In Between Days, but don’t forget about an at-the-counter Omakase experience at Kōsen.
