Looking for a new workout to add to your rotation? You might’ve heard about Pilates on social media or from your workout buddy — if you’re not already a devotee.

The low-intensity workout can be practiced on a mat or reformer machine and uses strength and flexibility movements to tone your body. The now uber-popular practice is named after Joseph Pilates, a personal trainer who developed the workout + brought it to the United States in the 1920s.

Editor’s note: These are just a handful of the available studios across the Tampa Bay area.

BODYROK Tampa | 615 Channelside Dr. Ste. #108, Tampa

The Channelside studio offers 45-minute core-focused workouts, community classes, and Sparkman Wharf sessions. Don’t worry, Burg residents: The studio is opening a location in downtown St. Pete soon.

The Pilates Krewe | Multiple locations

The women-owned boutique spot offers small classes + private sessions. Krewe also hosts outdoor classes on the lawn at Armature Works, so you can take in those riverfront views while sweating.

Club Pilates | Multiple locations

No matter your slice of TBAY, there’s likely a Club Pilates location near you. Stop by one of seven locations — with another on the way — to try out the studio’s reformer flow, cardio sculpt, control, center and balance, and even teen classes.
