Looking for a new workout to add to your rotation? You might’ve heard about Pilates on social media or from your workout buddy — if you’re not already a devotee.
The low-intensity workout can be practiced on a mat or reformer machine and uses strength and flexibility movements to tone your body. The now uber-popular practice is named after Joseph Pilates, a personal trainer who developed the workout + brought it to the United States in the 1920s.
