We’ve been hearing announcements on various developments moving into the Big Guava — from new restaurants at Water Street Tampa + the Tampa International Airport’s new Terminal D to Hyde Park Village’s addition of The Salty Donut. In 2023, Tampa’s business + economic development landscape will only continue to grow.

In case you skimmed over some of this groundbreaking news, here’s a quick recap.

Ash, Water Street Tampa

This relaxing, full-service Italian restaurant is set to open in the spring of 2023 in the newly developed Water Street Tampa neighborhood. The third business venture of Tampa’s local Chef Ferrell Alvarez, the 2,400 sqft space will feature both an exquisite indoor and outdoor dining experience, featuring European-style interiors.

The Salty Donut, Hyde Park Village, 1519 W. Swann Ave. + 5808 N. Florida Ave.

Offering fresh artisanal craft donuts, this Miami chain of delicious treats is set to open a storefront location in two of Tampa Bay’s most popular areas in 2023. Featuring a unique variety of lattés + other coffees, the modern small-batch company will bring mouth-watering flavors, vegan-friendly options, and gluten-free goods.

Terminal D at Tampa International Airport, 4100 George J. Bean Pkwy.

The Tampa International Airport plans to expand in the coming years with a new $790 million project named Terminal D that will add 16 new gates, an outdoor terrace, and more. Construction on the addition will begin in 2024, and the projected opening is in 2027.

Riverfront District, at South Parker St. + West Kennedy Blvd.

Development plans by real estate experts, the Related Group, are in the works for a 6-acre property that will be located west of the Hillsborough River in Downtown Tampa. The neighborhood will bring shopping, dining + entertainment for residents. Construction will begin in late summer 2023.

(Psst… This list isn’t meant to be comprehensive. If there is a construction project you’d like to share with us, send it our way. We love hearing about new developments + businesses.)
