This weekend marks the end of 2024 Paris Olympics — with the closing ceremony taking over the Stade de France on Sunday, Aug. 11 (which airs at 3 p.m.). And here’s your TBAY connection: TBAY’s Bobby Finke FaceTimed Katie Ledecky to tell her she would be the USA’s flag bearer.

Now we’re diving (had to) into how our local athletes fared in the games.

Bobby Finke, Swimming

The Clearwater-born swimmer set a new world record in a showstopping 1500-meter freestyle swim with Michael Phelps calling it “unbelievable.”

Austin Krajicek, Tennis

Krajicek and his partner Rajeev Ram pulled off a silver medal finish in the men’s doubles bracket, losing to Australia.

Nelly Korda, Golf

She’s not done yet. The world No.1 golfer finished two-under par through two rounds of the Olympic showdown. The third of four rounds takes place today, Aug. 9.

Erriyon Knighton, Running

The 20-year-old Hillsborough High School alum came up just short of a medal in the men’s 200-meter final, missing out on the bronze by under 0.3 seconds.

Did you watch Danielle Collins represent TBAY (and the US) in the Olympics?

The Burg native made it to the women’s singles quarterfinals before withdrawing from her match due to heat exhaustion. Collins and Desirae Krawczyk were ousted in the second round of the women’s doubles competition.

Felicia Stancil, BMX

The Tampa resident + BMX pro came in at No. 22 in her second Olympic appearance.

Parker Valby, Running

The East Lake High School grad is going for the gold in the women’s 10000-meter final today, Aug. 9. Tune in at 2:57 p.m.

Noah Lyons, Sailing

In his first Olympic Games, Lyons finished ninth overall in the Men’s Windsurfer (iQFOiL) competition on the Bay of Marseille.

Dania Vizzi, Shooting

Vizzi— nicknamed “shooterina” — came in 12th place in the women’s skeet competition + the US team finished in 6th place in the team competition.
