Post-Hurricane Milton Rays and Rowdies updates

While the Rays wait to see how much the City of St. Petersburg’s insurance covers for the Trop’s roof repairs, the team is working at getting the rest of the staff back on home base.

The front office staff will temporarily work out of the old UPC Insurance building at 800 Second Ave. S., the Tampa Bay Business Journal first reported. But that’s only a temporary fix, as Third Lake Partners purchased the land for redevelopment back in 2022.

One potential relocation option could be Al Lang Stadium — conveniently also owned by the Rays. The downtown St. Pete location was originally built for baseball, and was the longtime home of St. Louis Cardinals spring training games. It’s now being floated as a potential site for the Rays’ new temporary field.

But the facility did encounter damage during the hurricanes, and the final two home games of the Rowdies’ season were relocated. We’ll just have to see where the team ends up playing ball.
