Hey, hey, Champa Bay. City Editor Bailey here with a recap of the 2023 NFL draft.

It’s never too early to be excited for football season, right? In the words of my little brother, no.

Here’s a few of the newest members of the Bucs:

  • In the first round, with the 19th pick, the Bucs selected Calijah Kancey, a defensive end out of Pittsburgh (and Miami native). The Bucs’ General Manager noted that Calijah possesses “elite athleticism and quickness.” Read up on the past All-American’s college career and stats.
  • The Bucs picked up Cody Mauch, an offensive tackle, from the Lions in the second round. The 24-year-old played college ball for North Dakota State and won’t replace his missing front teeth until he’s done playing football, according to the Bucs.
  • And in the third round, the team selected YaYa Diaby. The power rusher has started three seasons with Louisville.
