Restaurant news you can use

Tampa Bay restaurant openings and closings.

There’s not that much happening in the Tampa Bay restaurant scene...just a joke. Put that on your plate.

Here’s a roundup of what’s going on with your local restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.

  • The second Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille location opens on Friday. The new Jungle Terrace spot features covered seating right on the picturesque Boca Ciega Bay.
  • Tampa’s first drive-thru location, Chipotlane is now open, according to Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. But there’s a catch, the location (8301 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.) only takes online or mobile orders.
  • Calling all Blind Tiger devotees. The speakeasy-themed coffee and tea spot recently opened a new location in the Tampa City Center building. Next year, the shop is opening up in International Plaza + St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital.
  • Grand Central’s Old Key West Bar & Grill is on the market. The bar will stay open until the sale.
  • There’s still time for one more pint. But St. Pete’s Avid Brewing plans to close its doors before the end of the year. Celebrate the bar’s closing at its NYE Bash.
