February

🏎 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg | March 2–5 | Downtown St. Petersburg | $95-$155 | This annual IndyCar street circuit closes off a runway at the Albert Whitted Airport and features top-level open-wheel racecar drivers for a diesel-injected, action-packed, multi-day event.
April
🎷 Tampa Bay Blues Festival | April 14–16 | Vinoy Waterfront Park | $60-$800 | Blues fans from across the region flock to Vinoy for an entire weekend packed with soul.
May
🏙 Riverfest | May 5–6 | Tampa Riverwalk | Free | Listen to live music from different tribute bands, watch the Wiener Dog Derby, light a lantern, and make a wish + send it off into the night sky.
June
🏳️🌈 St. Pete Pride Parade 2023 | June 24 | Free | Grand Central District | Free | March down the streets of St. Pete with 100,000 friends, all in celebration of LGBTQ+ achievements, legal rights, pride, and social and self-acceptance.

A new Tesla dealershipis opening on the old Kanes Liquidation Center plot (4601 34th St. N., St. Petersburg). The state-of-the-art dealership boasts a 3,000-sqft showroom + 40,000-sqft repair center that will staff about 50 people. The opening date has yet to be announced. 🚗 (I Love the Burg)
Development
Mayor Welch chose the Rays-Hines redevelopment plan, but Rays President Brian Auld said there are “many details to be finalized before the team commits to the Sunshine City,” according to TBBJ. One key issue is Pinellas County’s financial support. 🏟 (Tampa Bay Business Journal)
Gov. DeSantis wants to invest in Florida’s roads. His proposal would allow Tampa Bay to widen I-275 in St. Pete using some of Florida’s $21.8 billion 2022 budget surplus. If the Florida Legislature approves the proposal, construction would start in 2025 and end in 2027, according to FDOT. (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

$1,020,315,314. That’s how much Hillsborough County hotels made in taxable revenue in 2022. The county surpassed Visit Tampa Bay’s five-year tourism goal in just three years, according to a release. 🏨 (WTSP)

The first day of Black History Month. The month-long holiday pays tribute to Black Americans and serves as a time for recognizing the role of Black people in America. Celebrate by pedaling around Pete on the free five-mile St. Petersburg Black History Bike Tour.
Pets
Who let the dogs out? Hopefully, you will at the first-ever Pets Day Out event at the Trop, where all animals are welcome. This free pet party takes place this Sat., Feb. 4, from 12-5 p.m. Shop the region’s best pet-centric purrr-veyors, or even adopt a dog. 🐾 (I Love the Burg)

The good news is Alaska Airlines just expanded its flight network out in California. The move allows Tampanians to fly nonstop to the Golden State, landing at the San Diego International Airport. Daily flights startThurs., Oct. 5, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. Plus, roundtrip tickets are on sale right now.
Fun Fact: If you’re feeling tropical, you can hop on a connecting Alaskan Airlines flight from San Diego to any of the four major islands of Hawaii.
