Google’s Local Year in Search for the Tampa Bay area
This year, the world searched “can I change” more than ever before. | Gif sourced from “Year in Search”
We’ve been examining your Google search history, TBAY... but don’t worry, you’re not the only one looking up “sandbags near me” (that’s due to Ian) and “baby formula.” (and that’s due to baby formula shortage across the country). Google dropped the Tampa Bay area’stop trending searches from 2022, and we’re here with the results. Spoiler alert: We like to be entertained.
🐌 The Tampa area was the only place in the US that had Giant African Land Snail as its top trending animal. And it makes sense, the Lissachatina fulica has spread across the Pasco County area — as nearly 3,000 of the invasive mollusks were collected in the county.
🎙 As far as music goes, it’s no surprise Tampa Bay loves to jam. Our area’s top music genre search was for rap. If you’re still searching for some fire bars, Goodie Mob (including the one and only Cee Lo Green) is coming to the Ritz in Ybor this Saturday, Dec. 17.
💈 Plus, of the 12 places that had barbershop as a top trending “near me” search, we searched for it the most. Still looking for a beard trim — hit up Tyrone Barber Shop(921 Tyrone Blvd N., St. Petersburg) or A.C.M. Barber Studio(3309 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa).
🍪 2 places had cookies as a top trending “near me” search — us and Ft. Smith, AR. But, we searched for them the most. To answer your cookie query — we recommend Sweet Stack Shack(1041 Central Ave., St. Petersburg) and Bake’n Babes at Armature Works or on Davis Islands.
